Do it for them—
the reader who stayed up until 4am to finish your book,
who changed their phone screensaver to fan art of your characters,
who wishes they could read it all again for the first time,
and do it for YOU.
Your website was never supposed to be just about book sales.
It swept the nation and for a couple of weeks (months), it dominated my every waking thought.
I wanted to teleport from my living room in Minnesota to the Cottage. I watched every edit on Instagram. I saved every song on Spotify and played them on loop. I devoured interviews, old short films on YouTube—anything I could get my hands on. Full-on fandemonium. The kind I hadn’t felt since One Direction.
I craved more. I wanted the book. I wanted Hollanov t-shirts. I wanted to live inside that universe a little longer—so I went to the author’s website.
Now, I have a standard in my head for author websites. The first time I discovered Sarah J. Maas’s site after ACOTAR, I was obsessed. I took quizzes. I joined the mailing list. I lingered and revisited, multiple times. And this was years before I became a website designer... I just knew how it made me feel as a fan.
So when I landed on this author's site, I expected… something. A quiz. Character content. Favorite quotes pulled and highlighted. Fan art. Photos from the adaptation. Anything that felt like an extension of the world I’d just poured my entire December and January into.
But there was nothing to grab onto.
The site technically existed, but it didn’t give me anything—no immersion, no fun, no “come closer.” And that might’ve been intentional. Not every author wants to be in the spotlight. But as a fan? I yearned for more.
Because author websites don’t have to be another headache on the marketing to-do list. As an author, you've already climbed a mountain writing the book. The last thing you want is to build a website from scratch.
But the payoff? Huge.
And it just so happens that “home” also leads to more subscribers, more sales, and a stronger reader community.

I wanted to teleport from my living room in Minnesota to the Cottage. I watched every edit and fan creation Instagram would put in front of me. I saved every song on Spotify and played them on loop. I devoured interviews, old short films on YouTube—anything I could get my hands on. Full-on fandemonium. The kind I hadn’t felt since my One Directioner days.
I needed more. I wanted the book. I wanted Hollanov t-shirts. I wanted to live inside that universe a little longer—so I went to the author’s website.

in case you like origin stories...
That was the moment it clicked: I have a weirdly perfect perspective. I’m a bookish girl who loves to get obsessed—and I’m a website designer who knows how intentional online experiences can be.
A great author website doesn’t just “exist.” It makes readers feel something. It turns casual interest into loyalty. It welcomes your fans like: YES. You’re home.
You want traffic that turns into readers, not “cool numbers,” because numbers don’t buy books, people do.
You want readers to binge your backlist without needing a map, because confusion is where momentum goes to die.
You want a platform you control so one viral moment doesn’t turn into “wait… where do I send them?” panic.
You’re launching soon or publishing consistently and you’re done duct-taping links together like it’s a hobby.
You want to feel proud sending people to your site, because “here’s my website” should feel like a flex.
**If you need additional pages or services, we can certainly extend this timeline, I'm happy to discuss any adjustments and accommodations on our discovery call.
before our week begins
After you book, you'll get access to your client portal in Notion, a straightforward, organized home for all your images, copy, links, and assets. You'll be able to start adding in all the goods we need to start the project.
BEFORE OUR WEEK BEGINS
monday
Our Kickoff Call
We get on a virtual call and you tell me everything about your books, your story, your audience, your taste, your goals, the world you've built in your books... all of it. Between the questions and banter, I'll get everything I need to make strategic creative decisions for the rest of the week.
MONDAY
Tuesday
The Big Design: Home Page
The homepage sets the tone for the entire website including the layout, imagery, page structure, navigation, and the whole creative direction. At the end of the day, I send you a video review and you'll send me your thoughts by the next morning. (This will be our feedback loop for the rest of the week!)
TUESDAY
wednesday & thursday
Heavy Lifting Pages
As the week progresses, I work through the beefy pages—books, series, contact, or whatever we've scoped—building sections to fit the goals we discussed in our kickoff call, and weaving in your copy (or adding copy prompts if you plan to write your copy afterwards.)
WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY
Friday
Your About Page & Final Touches
About pages can give people migraines and I don't want you to overthink this which is why we do it last, plus you'll have the context of the rest of the site. By end of day Friday, your entire site is designed and you can take the weekend to consider any final revisions.
FRIDAY
THE FOLLOWING WEEK
Tweaks & Launch Prep
You can send over any last revision requests and finalize your copy while I finalize your contact forms, email opt-ins, SEO, and double check your buttons.
THE FOLLOWING WEEK
off to the races
Launch Time
And voila, your author website is done! You finally have an online home that matches the world you've created in your books. You're well on your way to selling more books and building an email list of obsessed readers!
OFF TO THE RACES
**If you need additional pages or services, we can certainly extend this timeline, I'm happy to discuss any adjustments and accommodations on our discovery call.
How long does this take?
Most builds take 1-3 weeks depending on how many books/series we’re organizing and how fast you can get me your content. I keep it moving—no six-month website limbo.
Do you build a “Start Here” / Reading Order section or page?
Yes. Always. If readers don’t know where to start, they don’t start… and I’m not letting that happen on my watch.
Will you set up my email list & reader freebie delivery?
Yep. We’ll connect your opt-in to your email platform and set up the delivery flow (bonus chapter, epilogue, reader magnet—whatever you’re doing). So when someone wants more, they can get it instantly.
I’m not techy... am I going to be stressed?
Nope. That’s the whole point of hiring me. I’ll guide you through what I need, handle the build, and give you a simple handoff so you feel confident updating your site after we launch.
Can this help me sell more books?
I’m not promising “website = instant bestseller,” but I am building you a site that makes it ridiculously easy for readers to start, stay close, and buy—which is how your backlist starts acting like the asset it is.
